“The Opaque Zone” was the collective project realised for the final assessment of the 2018/2019 Spatial Biopolitics module run by Dr Luis Moreno at the Department of Visual Cultures in Goldsmiths, University of London.

The Project was designed as an adventure game and presented to our lecturers and to the general public with an event at the Deptford DYI Space on 22 May 2019.

Attendees to the event would be able to operate choices that would direct them to virtually explore the city of London while reflecting on the invisible nets of political and spatial constraints that are operated at any time around them.

We had divided the DYI Space in substations representing the physical realities embodying our written pieces.

For the project I wrote a short fiction story accompanied by a few lines of explanation that included academic and media references.

As the story I had written takes place in the tube and is centred on audio-surveillance, I created a poster with rhymes loosely styled as the ones featured in the billboards of the Transport for London’s TravelKind campaign.
